Good sleep is very important, but unfortunately, it is something many of us don’t get. If you’re a rich and famous celebrity who is always in the public eye and under scrutiny, a good night’s sleep is perhaps even more important. Despite this, many historical figures viewed sleep as a non-essential chore and were determined to have as little as possible.
Others stuck to strict sleeping regimes. In fact, many of the world’s top CEOs contribute their success partly to sticking to a strict sleeping pattern. In some cases, modern technology helps with quality shuteye, but in others it is just a matter of well-established habit.
Here is a quick look at some of the weird (and not so weird) sleeping habits of famous people.
Martha Stewart sleeps for only a few hours per night, rising at 06:30 every morning to ensure that her animals have enough food and water.
Arianna Huffington adopted a strict sleeping pattern after an exhaustion related incident. She takes a bath in Epsom salts and lavender oil and puts electronics on charge outside her bedroom before retiring to bed in special sleep clothes.
Leonardo Da Vinci followed a polyphasic sleep routine where he would sleep for between 20 minutes and 2 hours per session, multiple times per day.
Elon Musk has been known to sleep in a conference room close to the Tesla production line and gets around six hours per night.
Tom Cruise sleeps in a soundproof room when he has guests staying over because he has such bad snoring that often wakes people up.
