What you eat can also affect your mind-body connection, so it’s important that you turn to a healthy and balanced diet. Your diet should include all the necessary nutrients and a variety of different foods. Not only will you become physically healthier, your mind will become sharper and clearer.
If your every meal includes the six tastes of Ayurveda (salty, sweet, sour, biter, stringent and pungent) you’ll know for sure that your diet is varied and balanced. The pungent, astringent and biter tastes that are found in ginger, radishes, peppers, spinach, mustard, mushrooms, tea and many other foods have an anti-inflammatory effect and can boost your metabolism.
Exercise for a challenge and balance
An active and energised body means an active and energised mind, which is why regular exercise is a crucial step in achieving and strengthening the connection between the body and the mind. The health benefits of regular and frequent exercise are quite obvious.
The less obvious effect of working out is on your general state of mind. Not only will you feel better about yourself after a workout, your mind will be more vital, you’ll relieve stress and contribute to your general well-being.
You have plenty of options when it comes to exercise, so you can keep your routine varied and interesting. You can acquire new skills by learning martial arts or teaching yourself how to ride a skateboard. From time to time, you can challenge your body and mind by taking up a more difficult activity.
